What's in the box
- Cogistick Pocket Retro V2 console
- SD memory card with the games pre-loaded
- USB-C charging cable
Nothing to download, nothing to register. It works out of the box.
Is it right for my child?
We'd suggest 6 and up. The controls are simple, but the memory card is small and removable, so it isn't suitable for children who still put things in their mouths.
The library is a broad sweep of 80s, 90s and early-2000s titles. Most are all-ages platformers, puzzlers and racers, but some carry the cartoon violence typical of arcade games from that era. You can remove any files you'd rather they didn't have by putting the card in a computer.

Screen time you don't have to police
Every other screen in the house is designed to keep going. Autoplay, daily rewards, a shop button, something to buy.
This one isn't. It's a fixed library on a memory card. When they put it down, nothing pulls them back — and when they pick it up, you already know how to play.
0
Adverts. There is no network connection to serve them over.
0
In-app purchases. Nothing in the library can ask them for money.
0
Accounts, passwords or updates. Switch it on and it works.

Finally, a game you're good at too
You already know these levels. Handing over a controller and saying "watch this bit" is the point — it's the rare screen you can sit down in front of together.

Up to 10 hours of continuous play, recharging in under 2 hours over USB-C — the same cable as most modern phones and tablets. Long enough for a car journey without a power bank.

A proper D-pad, shoulder buttons and twin sticks on a body that fits a child's grip — and no touchscreen to smear or crack.

What age is it suitable for?
We'd suggest 6 and up. The controls are simple enough for a younger child, but the memory card is small and removable, so it isn't suitable for children who still put things in their mouths.
Are there ads or in-app purchases?
None. The console has no network connection, so there is nothing to serve an advert over and no way for a game to take a payment.
Does it need Wi-Fi or a parent account?
No. Every game is already on the memory card. There's no sign-up, no download, no update and no connection required.
Can I control what's on it?
Yes. The library is a set of files on a removable SD card. Put the card in a computer and you can delete anything you'd rather they didn't have, or add titles of your own.
Are the games age-appropriate?
Most are all-ages platformers, puzzlers, racers and sports titles from the 80s, 90s and early 2000s. Some arcade and fighting games carry the cartoon violence typical of that era. Use the search box near the top of this page to check for a specific title, and remove anything you'd rather exclude via the card.
How well does it survive being dropped?
It's a moulded plastic handheld built for everyday handling, and there's no glass touchscreen to crack. The 1-year warranty covers manufacturing faults rather than accidental damage.
What's the difference between 64 GB and 128 GB?
The hardware is identical. The only difference is the memory card and therefore how many games are pre-loaded. The search box marks any title that needs the larger card.
